~ The next meeting of the Lunch Bunch is Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 12 noon. This will be a potluck and will be held here in our Fellowship Hall.

~ South Island Centre for Counselling and Training is again offering “The Ebb and Flow of Life”, a course on grief and loss starting Wednesday, September 22nd. It has been very well received and consistently has a waiting list long before it is presented. If you are interested, be sure to sign up early.

~ “Surviving the Single Parent Jungle” is another helpful course offered through South Island Centre for Counselling and Training. Please see the poster on the bulletin board. This course is available to all regardless of whether they can pay the full amount or not. Registration is limited, so those interested should sign up soon. Free child-minding is available during the course hours.

~ The Annual ELB Corn Roast is scheduled for Sunday, September 12th, following the morning worship service. More details to follow later.

~ On September 26, 2010, Doug and Jill Janzen will be with us for the morning worship service, updating us on their work in Brazil at the seminary.

~ IMPORTANT: Please be aware that there is a First Aid Kit available for anyone who needs it, located in the cupboard above the counter just outside the Nursery. It has always been there but it has been discovered that a number of people are not aware of its location.

~ “Our Daily Bread” for September, October and November is on the literature table in the foyer for those who are interested.

~ “It is with sadness that we let you know of the passing of Penny Walker, wife of Allan Walker (pastor of Qualicum Community Baptist). Penny passed away on Friday, August 6th due to complications with pneumonia after suffering from Huntington’s Disease for many years. The memorial service for Penny was on Wednesday, August 11th.”

~ With regard to tickets for Paul Young’s “The Shack” Meet the Author – There were a couple of calls this week about buying tickets from us. We do not have tickets for this event. They can be purchased at the Mary Winspear Centre in Sidney.

~ Les Biggs is on vacation and will be back in the office on August 17. During his time off, all church related matters requiring attention may be directed to our Moderator, Greg Hatton. Items for the bulletin should be given to Adriana Hatton by 11 a.m. on Friday mornings. Adriana is in the office from 9:30 to 3:00 p.m. on Fridays.
