~ Adult Sunday School meets at 10:00 a.m. each Sunday. You are welcome to join in the discussion as the class explores the intersection between the life of Moses and “becoming communities that make a difference in the world”. The Adult Sunday School Class will take a recess over Christmas and will meet again on January 9th, 2011, at 10:00 a.m.

~ Thanks to Les Funk and the ELB Players for the fine drama last Sunday. A special thanks goes to Gail and Rupert Welch for the tremendous help they were to Charlotte-Ann Sekul in organizing the lunch, as well as making so many beautiful sandwiches! Thank you to everyone else who also brought sandwiches and desserts and pitched in to help!

~ Last Sunday, the Baptist Women Sale raised $467.75. There are still some items for sale on a table in the Fellowship Hall.

~ We welcome Ben May back this morning from Port Coquitlam to share his musical talents with us.

~ The Office Administrator position is open as of the end of January, 2011. This position will be 5 – 8 hours per week. If you are interested, please submit your resume to Greg Hatton or Les Biggs. The deadline for resumes to be submitted is December 31st, 2010.

~ NOTE: Joan Christensen and Adriana Hatton are organizing the “After Service Coffee Time Schedule” for the first few months of 2011. They will be talking to people (e.g. you!), arranging groups of two or three people to take a turn in the kitchen for this great part of our Sunday morning experience.

~Tuesday, December 21st, 2010, 7:30 p.m. at The Forge (church) there will be an evening titled, “The Longest Night”. The goal of the evening is to give hope and comfort for people hurting at Christmas from things like the death of a loved one, divorce, financial difficulties, depression, conflict within the family. “We offer you support along the way. A place of refuge.”

~ Peggy Larson has moved to Glengarry Hospital, 1780 Fairfield Rd. She is in the Chandler Unit – #145. A person can phone (250) 370-5720 prior to visiting to see if she is in and not away with a family member.

~ The Annual General Meeting will be held Thursday February 10th, 2011. If you Chair a committee or lead a ministry, it might be time to start daydreaming about the scintillating report you will be writing.

~ Next Sunday – there will be an opportunity during the worship service for you to share a Scripture verse and/or reflections on your experience with God this Christmas.

December 19th-2010 Bulletin

The Adult Sunday School Class will take a recess over Christmas and will meet again on January 9th, 2011, at 10:00 a.m.

~ The Christmas Drama titled “Mary” written and directed by Les Funk, will be presented this morning. Following the drama, a light lunch will be served to which everyone is invited. Thanks to all who brought a non-perishable food item for the Mustard Seed. (Note: Communion will be next week).

~ Besides the Lunch, the Baptist Women will be having their “Jams, Jellies and Bake Sale” as one of their fundraisers immediately after the service. Many of these items make great hostess gifts for the season. Please be generous.

December 12th, 2010 Bulletin

This class will meet next week, but NOT on December 19th, 26th, or January 2nd, 2011.

~ A special thanks to our Advent Choir and all the other musicians who did a great job leading us last Sunday evening.

~The Christmas Drama will be next Sunday, December 12th. Following the drama, a light lunch will be served. As well, next Sunday, there will be a non-perishable food collection for the Mustard Seed. (Note: Communion will be on December 19th instead of December 12th due to the drama.) Les Funk could use some help setting up the stage for next week’s drama, so if you could lend a hand right after this morning’s service, please speak to Les Funk. Thank you.

This will get us through all the preparations needed for the Annual General Meeting and allow suitable time to find a replacement for her. This position will be 5 – 8 hours per week. If you are interested, please submit your resume to Greg Hatton or Les Biggs. The deadline for resumes to be submitted is December 31st, 2010.

~ The Baptist Women will be having their December Christmas meeting this Thursday at the home of Anne Hart. Spouses are welcome to attend as this is not a regular meeting but a time of food and fellowship. ALSO NOTE: THERE WILL BE A JAMS, JELLIES AND BAKE SALE here at the church right after the service NEXT WEEK – December 12th! This is a reminder for the Baptist Women and also to the rest of the congregation to be prepared to purchase these items as it is a fundraiser for the Baptist Women.

December 5th, 2010 Bulletin

~ A special thanks to the Social Committee, the soup makers and everybody else who helped with last Sunday’s Soup and Bun Lunch. It was great!

~ Annie Jacobson’s 90th birthday party is on Saturday, December 4th. All are invited for tea and cake between 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. at Lounge 6 at Marrion Village, 1950 Bee Street, Victoria

~ Did you know that Canada is considering legislation laws that would increase human trafficking in our country? Please see the post cards on the literature table that allow us to advocate for victims of human trafficking and sexual abuse.

~Tonight on this first Sunday of Advent, we will again be having a special Candlelight Advent Service as we have had the last couple of years. Dessert will be served at 6:30 p.m. and then the Advent Service will follow, including a couple of numbers by the ELB Choir. Remember to invite family and friends who do not normally attend ELB!
