Announcements for June 13th, 2010

~ Communion will be next Sunday.

~ Adult Sunday School has concluded its current study of Joseph. The Adult Sunday School Class will reconvene in the fall.

~ From Sylvan Acres: Under the excellent guidance of the Sylvan Board, with Rob Filgate as chair, a new director (Calley Erickson) has been appointed. Calley and Carrie have led several areas in our family of churches, including, over the last few years, Mill Creek (a CBWC Camp near Pincher Creek, Alta.)

~ The church picnic is today following the morning worship service. The picnic will be held on the North Lawn again this year. We will be sharing a picnic-style potluck lunch and coffee, tea juice and ice cream are supplied. After lunch there will be games and fun activities for all ages, so we encourage everyone to make an effort to stay for this event and have a great time of fellowship, even if you can’t play the games.

~ Executive Minister Reappointed The Board of Directors of Canadian Baptists of Western Canada is very pleased to announce they have reappointed Jeremy Bell as Executive Minister for another 5 years. His second term will extend to June, 2015.

“Jeremy was hired 5 years ago because he has a great ability to dream outside the box. He has great visioning skills,” said Jan Paasuke, the Board Chair. “Over the past 5 years, he has put many new initiatives into play, such as Listening Sessions, urban camping and local short-term missions as something separate from CBM. He has shown he has the ability to move us in a different direction and be more effective in the future.”

~ Director of Ministry Appointed Jeremy Bell, Executive Minister of Canadian Baptists of Western Canada, is pleased to announce the appointment of Bob Webber as Director of Ministry, effective June 1, 2010. As Director of Ministry, Bob will coordinate more than 50 Ministry networks, denominational committees, Camp Boards and Board Committees of the CBWC on behalf of the Executive Minister.
