~ We want to welcome back Les and Carol Biggs from their holidays this coming week. Les will be back in the office on Tuesday, August 16th.

~ The Cridge Transition House for women is collecting used cell phones which generate funds to assist in their program. The collection box is opposite the church office. Please note the thank-you letter on the lobby bulletin board.

~ Dishes and containers are collecting in the kitchen and we would like to get them back to their owners. Please have a look in the kitchen after the morning service to see if they belong to you.

~ The next quarter’s Daily Bread devotional books can be picked up this morning in the lobby.

~ We have a new address and phone number for Arwen Holmlund. She is now living in Prince George, and will be teaching at an excellent Christian school there. Her contact information will be on the lobby bulletin board this morning.

~ Please note the latest news from our partners David and Cathie Phillips on the bulletin board by the single door entrance. They are facing some changes ahead.

~ There will be a picnic on the North lawn organized by our social committee, immediately following today’s morning service. Come and enjoy wonderful eats and a beautiful day.

~ Sam Chaise, the General Secretary for Canadian Baptist Ministries in his newsletter reminds us that Famine Relief in the Horn of Africa is one of their focus projects, particularly Kenya. ~ Elk Lake Baptist Church has received a letter from Statistics Canada, asking our membership to please fill out and return the National Household Survey (NHS). One in three households will receive this more comprehensive census questionnaire. Question 22 addresses the religion or denomination of each person. The NHS will provide valuable information that will be used to make decisions about community social programs.

~ The Church Fellowship Hall and kitchen will be in use on Saturday, August 13th, for the afternoon and evening.

~ David Holten Retires: After more than 22 years as the CBWC’s Director of Administration and Finace, David Holten has retired, effective the end of May ’11.

~ The next C.E. Family Event will be on Saturday, July 9th at the Esquimalt Lagoon. This event is for families with young children and will happen between 12 noon and 2 p.m. Bring your own picnic lunch with perhaps some dessert to share. We will meet at the parking lot closest to the washrooms (near the bottom of Lagoon Rd.)

~ Matthew and Yarrow Fox are pleased to announce the arrival of their son Nikola Rowan Fox, Born June 12, 2011 at 11:10 p.m. at home in Cumberland BC. Niko weighed 7 lbs, 9 oz.

~ There will be a shower for Joanna and Violet May Richards on Thursday, June 30th at 7 p.m. at the church building.

~ We are pleased to welcome Ben Rancourt into church membership this morning!

~ Note from last week’s discussion on the time for the worship service during the summer. The congregation voted in favour of keeping the service at 11:00 a.m. There will be no change in the time of the worship service.

The Church First Aid Kit is located in the cupboards above the sink next to the Nursery.

~ Used Stamps for the Leprosy Mission, and Bar Codes for Island Farms Products can be dropped off at boxes located on the table near the coat rack. Mustard Seed food donations are also collected in the same area,
near the coat rack.
