Big Change.”  Eighty percent of people in the world have no access to credit-mostly people in developing countries who would do almost anything to work their way out of poverty and hunger.  They don’t want handouts; they simply want to be able to provide for their families.  They’re hardworking and industrious, and many have entrepreneurial instincts, but there are no jobs available and they don’t have the resources to start a small business.  That’s where microcredit comes in.  This year, funds raised for the Sharing Way Annual Project will be used to help provide that microcredit.  Watch for more information..

~ The Trelawny Male Choir from Cornwall UK will be doing a concert tour of Western Canada and will be in Victoria at Central Baptist Church, 833 Pandora Ave. on Friday, September 30th at 7:00 p.m. The Choir consists of 80 members and they perform “a wide range of gospel and spiritual numbers.” See the Bulletin Board for more information including about obtaining tickets.

~ Elk Lake Baptist Church has received a letter from Statistics Canada, asking our membership to please fill out and return the National Household Survey (NHS). One in three households will receive this more comprehensive census questionnaire. Question 22 addresses the religion or denomination of each person. The NHS will provide valuable information that will be used to make decisions about community social programs.

~ The Church Fellowship Hall and kitchen will be in use on Saturday, August 13th, for the afternoon and evening.
