The time is fast approaching when we will welcome our new pastor, Grant Hill, and his family to our community. Grant’s first Sunday with us will be on September 18th.

Grant’s first day as Pastor will be September 16th, which falls on a Friday. We won’t be asking him to preach on the following Sunday, September 18th, which will be the Communion Sunday for September. On Sunday, September 25th, CBWC Regional Minister, Rob Ogilvie, will be presiding over a commissioning service and celebration for Grant (yes, there will be food). Therefore Grant’s first sermon as our Pastor will be delivered on Sunday, October 4th.

Special thanks to Tom Cowan, who has blessed us richly during this transitional year as our interim pastor, and is now enjoying a holiday with his family. Between now and September 18th we warmly welcome pastor Jeff Sears, who is bringing us a four part sermon series over August, and a couple members of our congregation, who will be sharing towards the end of August and beginning of September. Tom Cowan will join us again for one last sermon on the Sunday directly preceding Grant and family’s arrival.

On Thursday, May 19th, the church membership approved calling Grant Hill to be our new Pastor. Grant and Becky immediately accepted our invitation and Grant will begin in mid-September after moving to Victoria from New Westminster. Thank you to the members of the Search Committee and to those who were part of this process (which includes nearly every member of our congregation). Thank you in particular for your prayers, which we believe inclined God to smile on this little church. The Pastoral Search Committee will remain in place until Grant’s start date to assist him and his family during the transition and we invite the congregation to participate in this process as well (i.e. continue praying).

A special thanks to Tom Cowan for his wonderful pastoral support during this interim period, and to our beloved former pastor, Les Biggs, for his many years of service.
